one nation, under Her

I've been known to write more than one story at a time--I think most writers have hit that wall at least once or twice in their writing-world. When I started this blog a few weeks ago, my main project was a fantasy story about four kings and their families. I'd been outlining since school ended and, yep, it was going really well.

My other project was An American in Monet, which I had this beautiful cover made for by someone I met on Wattpad. It's about 12k words in, and I love the story so much.

So, what's happened, you ask? My inspiration for both of them has died. Dead. Done. Crashed and burned. It's been a really terrible thing, having to come to grips with both of them leaving me at the same time. Now, what am I going to do?

Like I don't already have a plan. You see, for the last few months I've been trying to get on paper a story that I've had in my head for a while. It's not happened. I couldn't do it. Then, right after my inspiration for the other two stories died, something happened and bam: I had written a chapter and a few scenes. I was surprised with how it turned out, too.

It's a Dystopian novel, set only a few years into the future, told in the point of view of the leader of the Nation (or, depending on who is speaking 'Mystic Nation') 's mother. What's different about this from other Dystopian novels is the fact that it's told from the POV of a government official and not someone who is being ruled over. I thought that'd be a nice spin on thinks, huh?

There are a lot of things that go into this, but I am not going to talk about all of them now--I want to keep some of it a secret. But, I'll tell you this: this story will not be given up on. Period. I will be finishing this one before the end of the year. It's my baby. I've been mentally developing the story since December and now it's just going on paper.

And I'm out of this world excited.

Ah, yes, more introductions!

I'm back again, guys. How has your reading/writing/working been going? I've been making some (alright, a lot...) of progress on my novel-outline for VEILED, and I thought, hey, why don't I introduce some of my characters to the blogging world? Seeing that there are about twenty thousand main characters, I'll center in on a few of my personal favorites.

First, Sault. (Who I have conveniently picked Charlize Theron to play in my brain.)

Sault Princely Bigod, the daughter of Kurt Bigod, the woman of light, beauty, and birth. The Queen of the North. Mother of two daughters and two sons, who will be the next kings and lords of the land.

Sault is one of my favorites because there is so much to her. She is far more than anyone can expect. She is beautiful, capable, and extremely powerful.

Second, Magneea. (I have no idea the name of this model, but she is beautiful.)

Magneea Brava, the bastard child of a lord, who rose to the top as the first wife of King of the West, Klaus. Queen of the West, but still discriminated against because of her color.
Magneea has always been given the shorter side of the stick because of racism that doesn't stop when you enter a fantasy world. And then, even after she married the King of the West, she is still being told she isn't good enough. Klaus' other wife, Elyn, is the chief adversary of Magneea's and does everything she can to ruin her life.

Third, Nero. (He was one of the last ones I picked... Nero was a very hard choice, but I think James Franco fits nicely.)

King of the South, Nero is always the mediator of his brothers. He brings out the best in all of them, and for that, he is universally loved. His looking for the best in everyone also brings his down fall.
I love Nero a lot and feel pretty bad that he ends up being the one that is ruined the worst. Some truly terrible things happen to one of the best people, but come on, isn't that real life?

Well guys, those are three of my favorite characters from VEILED.

What are some of your favorite characters from your project? How is your writing going this week?

Welcomes & Wonders

Whoa, guys, it's my first blog post on this blog. I don't know if you've noticed yet, but this isn't going to be some super serious blog or anything. Some of my posts may be long because I like to rant about silly and stupid stuff.

Oh this blog we'll talk about writing; skills people can use to better their writing, or even some author interviews. I'll talk about the progress in my own writing.

I may talk about my personal life or pop culture (cool movies that have come out, who I'm obsessing over at the moment, you get the deal.)

But seriously, welcome. I'll have more to say over the next few days in my writing/reading posts.

Generally I'll probably post on Monday (personal gibber-gabber), Wednesday (writing stuffs), and Friday (reading and/or some more gibber-gabber) .

I hope you enjoy my blog!
